When is their karaoke?
Poor service. Took almost an hr to get a beer. And food was cold when we got it. Waitress was slow but friendly. I'm a native here 43 yrs. Not the Lucy's it used to be. Come on Carlsbad get it togther. One start because I have to
Eye opening. I didn't think such a good Mexican restaurant was so close to home.
After reading negative reviews, we were hesitant to try it, but it was really good. Our server, Heather, was pleasant and attention. We were quickly seated and our food came in a reasonable amount of time. Delicious chips and we recommend Adam''s queso with medium green chili. We enjoyed our meals.
Their disclaimer helped me remember that sitting down and enjoying conversation for a long time before i get my food is what i should do. Food finally came and seems as though it suffered just as long as i did. Hope it had a better conversation.
Came to eat here because we needed to eat somewhere from the Carlbads Caverns and wanted to eat some Mexican food. First thing I noticed that was off was that you had to pay about 2.65 for chips and salsa, and I'm like maybe that means that it is better quality. Nope, not in the slightest. The "salsa" is basically a hotter version of tomato sauce. All throughout the meal my family and I were infested by flys. It was really upsetting and made the meal unsatisfying. The food was okay at best. The bathroom area was not really private. The doors are open and it's kind of a small area for the bathrooms. I live in Texas so I wouldn't be coming back anyway but if I lived nearby probably wouldn't return if I'm being completely honest.
We were not impressed with this place. It may be a great place if you don’t like Mexican food. I believe it’s more like Tex-mex.
Miss Lucy is fabulous! The food is fresh. The atmosphere is friendly.
Very sweet server. Amazing appetizer (Adam's queso) and delicious entrees. Couldn't ask for better!
I'm pretty sure the taco shell was great value brand and I couldn't detect any seasoning in the meat. Other than that it was good, very good red sauce actually.
Let me start by saying WOW!!!! I have NEVER had such horrible service in my life. I’m not one to complain about much but the service at Lucy’s is the worst I have ever experienced. I will not go back to Lucy’s and I really loved their food.
I can only speak for myself and I can't say every visit will go this way.. Food was delicious and my bar tender was very attentive although it was a busy night..Not very many Mexican restaurants like this...I was surprised..Second visit was the total opposite.. Halloween night and didnt look very busy but service was slow..The food was ok but this time had smaller portions and had to order second plate to get filled..very disappointing evening..
Best queso I' ve had anywhere! Comfortable & well priced family dining specializing in Mexican style fare. Family owned restaurant with separate bar area. Service was great first night. Everything was so good we went back a second time. Service OK second time. Parking is a challenge but the food is worth it.
Good Mexican food here and s Hot bartender
Food was good but every item on the table ordered was so spicy. If you love super spicy this is the place. Waitress was great!
Basically like any generic Mexican restaurant anywhere in the US, despite being in New Mexico. Tried twice. Lots of fine but not noteworthy foods.
Not real Mexican food at all. You had the option of shredded brisket or chicken for the carnitas, not sure what that's about. Everything that is fried is fried in the same oil as fish and seafood, so to those of us who are highly allergic it really sucks. Our waiter offered me flour tortillas instead of chips for the dip we ordered, then we had to pay $2.50 for them. Just disappointing
Great place to eat, food taste amazing and it's not gonna take a bite out of your wallet.
Good place to eat, nice staff always very welcoming. The Chiladas are awesome, if you never had a Red beer I highly recommend you go try one. DELICIOUS
They did not take any take out orders. Closed because they had a full house. Understaffed. Bad for buisness when you turn down people willing to wait and pay.
Relaxed atmosphere, good New Mexican food
Food & drinks are good, nice atmosphere...friendly & courteous...
the food was bad and terrible service
Really good food seating on patio
Delicious! The margaritas are so tasty and our fajitas were delicious. The queso is unique since it is mixed with green salsa. We think we accidentally were served the hot salsa mix but it was still tasty despite the mix up. The serving size was perfect for me and my wife was able to take some home. Service was friendly and quick.
We were visiting family in Carlsbad. I love Mexican food and ask if they had tried the restaurant. None had so we decided to try. We walked in and it was ok until the food came. It tasted as if it was out of a can. My daughter and I split fajitas and we were changed $2 because of it. Really? I paid for a plate. The salsa tasted like hot tomato sauce. We were completely dissatisfied and left the food. Our bill was $50. That was the worst money ever spent. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Worst chips & salsa ever! Mediocre food.
It was our 1st time eating at Lucy's. Definitely will be back good food & great service. Very nice place.
A great stop for some New Mexican food in Carlsbad. As with most New Mexican style food, the thing to look for here is the sauce - red or green. While you can't go wrong with either, their green chile is especially good for enchiladas or smothering a burrito. Their Adam's queso is great as an appetizer but you can also ask for it smothered on a burrito. If you just can't make up your mind, try El Plato Loco!
Late lunch was awesome!
One of the best places in town... and way better service
Very friendly staff, good atmosphere, and Amazon g food! 4 stars because the wait time to get my order was around 35 minutes. But overall well worth the trip.
Stayed in Carlsbad for a trip to sitting bull falls in which we ordered here. The tacos, Chile replenished, enchiladas, & kids chicken tenders were all very well made! Delicious food that made me want to go back to Carlsbad just to eat it again! Highly recommend! 👍🏽
it was good service friendly fast all we ordered thank u shanon
Food wasn't bad, it just wasn't fantastic.Server acted like we were an inconvenience to her.. asked for second round of drinks and got them when we were almost finished with dinner.
Had me a Beef fajitas came with 3 small flour tortillas and a bowl of greens was pretty tasty that's for sure definitely recommend this place the waiting might be long to be seated but the eatin is good.
Lucy has one of the best if not THE best Mexican food and employees in town!!!
Beat place in Carlsbad, the green chile is on point, the service is phenomenal, the hospitality makes you feel as if you are at home. This is a must to visit, the drinks are cold and refreshing, the Queso is worth writing home about, the atmosphere is exactly what you want to relax and let go or enjoy your partners company. The food is amazing, everything on the menu makes you want to come back for more, give it a try and you, too, will become a fan of the best food in Carlsbad. Come one come all let your taste buds come alive with the flavorful dishes and the smile you have when you leave.
The food and service here is good, we enjoy dining here about once a month. The Chile Rellenos are delicious.
Love this place! The queso is very addictive! The staff is really nice. This is my first and last stop every time I am in town.
Food and service was great and quick
Great service and excellent food. Would recommend you give it a try.
Service was slow but they did have a sign posted as you walk in to expect slow service. The waitress Lori made up for it with her personality. She was very friendly and accommodating. Food was good enough.
Food was good, service was ok, extremely overpriced
I'm a home town girl and I loooooovvvveee me some Lucy's. We were in town for 4th of July weekend, and I was looking forward to a yummy enchilada plate. I checked the hours, they closed at 8 and it was 7:25. Great! Plenty of time to place our order and pick it up before closing. Imagine my surprise when I was told they could not take my order because they closed in 30 minutes. Not 15, not 10, but THIRTY MINUTES. Restaurants are struggling to stay open right now, and yet we were turned away. Shame on you, you've lost my business and I ALWAYS order from Lucy's when I'm home 😡
Very good food & very big portions... Our waitress was really nice
Lucy's is a great family owned restaurant. The waitress that served my mother and I was kind and friendly. Thank you Miss Terri. We will be back to dine with you again Very soon.
Server's cordiality needs improvement. A simple smile and a "thank you, come back again!", goes a long way.
Very nice restaurant and employees. The food was very good, and plenty of it.
